Insurance and post-mitigation rebuilds

Restoration reconstruction, after the drying is done.

A fire or a flood produces two separate jobs. The first is mitigation — extraction, drying, remediation. The second is reconstruction: putting the building back. BEK does the second one, in full.

We work from the carrier’s scope, alongside whichever mitigation company is already on the loss, and we hold every trade in the rebuild so you are not the one chasing a painter.

01How it runs

Four stages, in this order.

  1. 01

    Mitigation finishes

Your mitigation contractor completes extraction, drying and remediation, and signs off dry standard. BEK does not do this part, and does not claim to.

  2. 02

    Scope and estimate

We walk the loss, photograph it, and price the rebuild against the carrier's Xactimate scope where one exists. Where the scope misses something structural, we say so in writing before work starts.

  3. 03

    Rebuild

Framing, insulation, drywall, texture, paint, flooring, finish carpentry, stucco and concrete — held by one contractor rather than coordinated across five.

  4. 04

    Documentation and closeout

Progress photographs, signed change orders, and a punch list closed before we ask for final payment. The file stays clean for the adjuster and for you.

02Working with the carrier

The paperwork is part of the job.

A rebuild goes wrong on documentation more often than on carpentry. We keep the file straight so the claim does not stall halfway through.

  • Xactimate scope review and line-item pricing
  • Supplement documentation when hidden damage is found
  • Photographic record from demolition through completion
  • Written change orders, no verbal scope creep
  • Direct communication with the adjuster or your public adjuster
  • Coordination with your mitigation contractor's dry log

03Losses we rebuild

Fire, water, storm and impact.

Residential and commercial, single rooms through whole structures.

  • Kitchen and appliance fires, including smoke and soot rebuild
  • Whole-structure fire loss requiring reframing
  • Supply-line and water-heater failures
  • Sewage backup reconstruction after remediation
  • Roof leaks, storm and wind damage
  • Vehicle impact and structural repairs

04 — For the trade

Are you a restoration company?

This page is written for property owners. If you run mitigation and need a reconstruction partner who will not compete with you for the mitigation side of the loss, there is a page for that.

05Questions

What is restoration reconstruction?
It is the rebuild that happens after mitigation. Once the water is out and the building is dry, somebody has to reframe, reinsulate, hang and texture drywall, paint, put the flooring back and reset the trim. That work is reconstruction, and it is what BEK does.
Does BEK handle the water extraction and drying?
No. BEK is a licensed General B contractor, not a mitigation company. Extraction, drying and remediation belong to a mitigation contractor. We start where they finish, and we work with whoever is already on your loss.
Will BEK work from my insurance company's estimate?
Yes. We are used to working line by line against an Xactimate scope. If the scope is short on something the building actually needs, we document it and submit it as a supplement rather than absorbing it quietly or arguing about it later.
Can I choose my own contractor for the rebuild?
In California you generally choose who repairs your property. A carrier may recommend a preferred vendor, but the decision is normally yours. Confirm the specifics with your carrier or adjuster for your policy.
How long does an insurance rebuild take?
It depends on the scope and on how quickly the carrier approves it. We give you a schedule once the scope is settled, and we tell you when something slips instead of leaving you to notice.

Send us the scope.

The adjuster’s estimate, a few photographs, and the address. That is usually enough for us to tell you where we would start.
